Any Way
Any Way Gallery
Any Way. I started this piece in 2015 as a complement to No Way that first appeared in the Modesto: Poverty, Meth, Discontentment, Death oil painting completed in 2013.
I did this in Inkscape 100% start to finish. My inspiration for No Way was the One Way road sign because of Modesto and their discrimination of me through denying me employment for close to 20 years.
I guess I was walking around one day thinking about the No Way sign and heard someone say to someone in a sass type of way, “Well, ANY WAY!…”
It stuck in my head. I thought, how could I do a sign like No Way that expressed the same sort of sarcasm in a similar vein?
This was the first design I made then:
Any Way early design circa 2015
I set it aside until around 2020 as from 2016 to 2020 I was 100% committed to the “Wisteria” oil painting experiment.
There were problems with the line work showing up and if you check out the original there are lines surrounding each arrow now. The cut out shape for t-shirts and stickers looks way better how it is currently. The theory behind many of my designs is to make them work on any kind of background color possible.
The 2015 piece had fades that weren’t very harmonious to my eye, so I fixed them in the final version. I also shortened the main horizontal arrows when I fixed everything.
In 2020 I added the bluish purple to reddish purple fade you see in the background today.
This piece is a vector art image, so its easy to zoom to any size I need. It could theoretically be zoomed up to the size of the moon with no lack of detail if I could find a printer and paper large enough.
