Astral-Zen-eca. This was one of the big four Operation Warp Speed vaccine companies funded with billions of US tax dollars by Donald Trump late in 2020 and further pushed by Joe Biden until he left office in January, 2025.
Here’s the original AstraZeneca logo that I used as an inspiration for Astral-Zen-eca. I couldn’t help noticing in 2023 when I started this piece that the original AstraZeneca logo looks very angular much like the nazi logo made by Adolph Hitler if you turn it 45 degrees in two axes.
At the time, I didn’t like how the spiral I created in Inkscape looked as I was attempting to make it seem as if you were ‘going to the light’ around the word Zen. Zen is taught by Buddhists as a very relaxed state, and what’s more relaxed than someone lying in a coffin dead?
I wanted these logos to express an idea without using excessive words, so instead of using the phrase ‘Go to the light because we said so’, I decided to make a pattern that expressed these words in symbols.

I set this aside for a few months as I was working on other stuff like fixing Quitter. I decided to mess around more with the tiled clones feature I love in Inkscape and found I could make it do things like this image below:
